??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????It’s an accepted fact by many people that having a pet around does wonders for people that are ill. And there are many people that also believe that “therapy dogs” can do wonders for isolated senior citizens, children with reading disabilities, autistic children, people with PTSD, etc.

But there just isn’t a whole lot of actual clinical research around this premise; instead, it’s a mountain of anecdotal evidence.

It seems to beneficial, and the people involved say it’s beneficial, and there are positive results. But, how often, and why?

There is now a study being done that will try to quantify the link between having a dog present for comfort and the mitigation of cancer symptoms, or slowing of the cancer itself. We’re all for it, since we’re in the camp that “knows it works”. We promise we’ll stay on this and let you know the results.
